Monster Dash Review

In Monster Dash, you play as Barry Steakfries (Who also stars in the sequel: Age of Zombies) , a wise cracking crude hero who loves to kill monsters.

Monster Dash is a racing platformer in which you run until you eventually die.  Your only goal is to get as far as possible, using Barry's shotgun to clear the way.  Along the way a small army of undead monsters will try to kill Barry whilst they wander the worlds that Barry runs through.  In his run through monster infested lands Barry encounters weapon crates.  In these crates the player can gain weapons such as a submachine gun a six-shooter, a jetpack machine gun, a ghost buster type laser and even a motorbike, to aid them in their marathon.

The players life is represented by a series of hearts at the top of the screen, the player starts with three.  On every level there is one chance to grab an extra heart/ hit point.  Bumping into any enemy or spike on the floor will reduce the players life total by one.  If the player sends Barry into a chasm on the map it is instant failure.

Every 1000m the player is teleported to one of five worlds, each with it's own monster type.  After each progression the speed is increased and more monsters spawn.  Meaning that level progression is faster but the run becomes more challenging.

Monster Dash is supported by both OpenFeint and GameCenter achievements along with its own in game stat list, which is very expansive.  There are also various leaderboards based on both distance and monsters killed, that will keep you playing for a long time if you are that way inclined.

Monster Dash is really worth the money, such a small price tag for potential hours of fun.  As far as running platformers go, Monster Dash stands tall as king, with great visuals and a great pace you cannot do much better.
