In the Fortune universe there is a form of magic energy called Ether, which is used to cast magic. There are eight different orbs that represent different world elements such as fire, earth and dark energy, the sorcerers combine these elements to cast spells against each other. In the game this is shown in abstract terms using a board with orbs on it. The player slides these orbs much like in a game of Bejeweledto create a line of three or more orbs in a row. Doing this creates a spell that does damage to the opponent. The first player to reduce their opponent's hit points to 0 is the winner.

You start with the option of playing as one of three different heroes that vary slightly their base statistics and special moves that are unlocked through combos in game. Once you have completed the game you unlock another sorcerer to play as. If you are determined all you can unlock and play as all 40 sorcerers in the game.
Every Sorcerer has a pretty basic story line and a reason that they want to go on their quest, this is brief and pretty non-existant, when playing the game you soon forget about the story and get lost in the hand drawn visuals.

Despite its repetitive gameplay if you like sliding combination games then this is for you. The customisation and level escalation, make for a nice light challenge and simple fun.
The games only flaws are that it is fairly easy and there is no drawback to losing, the player simply just tries again. Being fairly luck based it has been the case that some games have ended in one turn, which can be frustrating. Sorcerer of Fortune also suffers from a lapse in the English Language in the form of some slight translation errors, making a fair amount of what the characters say in the game make very little sense. While this may annoy some I personally found it quite amusing.

It is a must if you have an ipod/ iphone.
